We're big fans of Queen of Hearts over here at G-Shock - and luckily she loves us too!
We caught up with the 'Noir-Pop'stress at Wireless recently for a quick chat, and seeing as she's just dropped a cover of Ben Thompson's Only Love AND has announced a new EP due in September, we figured now would be the perfect time to see what she thinks the 'G' in G-Shock stands for...!
What's new in the world of QOH?
I did the Olympics live Ceremony, the tour, enjoying having my music out there and headed off to America in a couple of months to write some more music.
For those stupid people that havent heard your music...
They are stupid... (laughs)...
They are very stupid. Tell those silly people what they can expect from the QOH?
Noir electro-pop - which you can tell from the outfit I'm wearing. All black! Keep it goth. It's fun, electro pop but with a serious theme. My lyrics can be quite deep. But it's also pulse-y and bassy and fun. I hope it's music that people will enjoy.
What's the toughest part of your body?
I've got amazing arm muscles - I' trying to be Madonna!
What is the toughest part of your job?
Any type of criticism is tough. When you write songs from your heart, or you write about something that's troubling you or things that have happened and someone says 'That song's rubbish', that hurts a bit (laughs). But there's so many pro's and i'm very grateful to be doing what I'm doing. So you take the pro's and the con's and if the worst thing is that some people on youtube don't like you, I'm not going to stay at home and cry about it. At the same time, it is quite tough. You put yourself out there to be judged, so you have to take it and not be too hung up on it.
What's been the most shocking thing you've seen/ done/ said in your whole life?
Probably seeing Rita ORa's nipple at Hackney Weekender. Enjoyable, but shocking!
What does the G in G-Shock stand for?
Gangsta!
