The Imposter: Trailer
If I didn't have a really very bad cold and sore throat (sniff sniff) I'd defo go and see this film tonight.
I say film, it's actually a documentary/ drama thriller about the disappearance of Nicholas Barclay, 14, from Texas. A few years later, 'Nicholas' returned.
Or did he?

Time For: Plan B
'My b*******s look massive, don't they?'
Last month, I caught up with Ben Drew AKA Plan B for i-D magazine's pre-fall 'Just Kids' issue. As a man that is unquestionably a voice of a generation, Ben had lots to say on the youth of today.
Here's a little outtake from stuff about his forthcoming film, his love of a jazz apple and reading 50 Shades of Grey. Read the full interview, in i-D, which is available now. Pictures by the brilliant Alasdair Mclellan.
Firstly. Nice jeans.
Yeah
man, I'm doing some new
stuff, like these tie-dye jeans. I wore 'em on Alan
Carr and he was like ‘They are a bit loud.’ They've had mixed responses. It's what me and my band do. My mate, who I met through Chase & Status, designs them for me, he's been designing clothes for ages. We’ll get a pair of jeans, unstitch them, and then we’ll just tie-dye the
backs, stitch them back together and then we’ll stitch it inside of the pocket. We’ll do a bit where you can have the roll up and stuff and then wear them with braces. It's a bit punk, a bit skinhead.
How
and why did you get involved with The Sweeney?
I
always wanted to do the film but I was offered a smaller role, and I couldn’t do it at the time. I couldn’t really do it anyway, but when they offered me
the role of Carter, I couldn’t say no. They ended up pushing the filming back
for me and waited for me to do iLL Manors. They made it work and it was a
good time for me to get fit again as well. I didn’t want to do a film where I
look a bit fat. I lost the weight in 12 weeks and the next time, Nick (Love, the director) saw me and I was 12 and a half stone.
How did you lose the weight?
Bodybuilder
weights. You haven’t got to do a lot of cardio, so you're just picking up loads of shit. Your body takes three days to repair the muscles so for three days you can sit on your arse and you’re burning calories, as long as you
don’t put calories in your body. Your body has to burn it from what’s there, so
it just falls off.
So, what do you eat then?
Loads of steak, loads of sliced chicken breast, which you can get from the
supermarket. Snack-a-jacks, olives, jazz apples. Do you know about jazz apples? There’s this new apple, this
invention from the '80s, they are
wicked. They are a mix between the British Cox and the Gala. They are lovely. I’d have them refrigerated and then
I’d have sugar free Alpen. Then, there’s this stuff called Oatey which is milk
made from oats. I was really trying to stay away from dairy products and fatty
things. It sounds really hard but when you get into it, you know where to get
it. I won’t just eat any olives either, some are nasty. They have to got be tasty
olives, so I found these ones called Manzanilla olives from Marks &
Spencers. When you know where to get the nice,
fresh product, you can handle it if you’re hungry. Nuts as well. If you’re
hungry you could have more cashew nuts and it kills the hunger for about an
hour. You’d be hungry again in an hour and a half but, you could have a couple
of nuts, have some rice cakes and it means you can get throughout the day and
have that one full meal. Like, a massive steak. You can have some grilled prawns or
salad with it.
So, you lost the weight and in the Sweeney, there’s a
scene with you in your pants. Have you seen that scene yet?
Yeah.
Were you comfortable doing a scene like
that?
It
was cool, it was alright. My b*******s look massive, don't they? I
don’t think I’d ever do a naked movie at all. I'd do underpants but I’d have to go down to the tanning salon to top it up because I’m a
pretty pale guy.
How was The Winstone?
Ray just made me feel like I was supposed to be there, do you know what I mean? For
me, it was a shock that they offered me the role and he was, like, a proper actor.
He’s proved himself where as me, I haven’t really. He never made me
feel like I didn’t deserve to be there though. He respected me.
Do you feel like a proper actor now?
No,
not really. I was
very out of my comfort zone in the Sweeney. I find it very difficult and uncomfortable to
watch it back. I still
feel I can act but I don’t think I can call myself an actor yet. You look at someone like Daniel Day Lewis who can play a
gay guy, a disabled person, he can play an American gangster back in 1892 or
whenever it was. Do you remember Gangs of New York? Then he will do There Will
Be Blood. For me, that’s someone who is a true actor. He can put on different
accents. Like, Stephen Graham as well - Combo from This is England. For me,
those people are actors because they can adopt something completely alien to
them. You believe it and go with it. It’s not that I say I can’t do it, I just
haven’t done it yet. I think that the day I really challenge myself and look
back at something and go ‘I’ve done well there, I believe that,’ is the day
that maybe I’ll call myself and actor. But, I can act.
How was snogging Kara Tointin of Eastenders fame for the film?
With Kara, we didn’t have a lot of time. So,
when I met up with her we just spoke about past relationships and spoke about
things that annoyed each other about people from the past, and things that
didn’t.I remember asking her why she broke up with her
last boyfriend but I can’t remember what she actually told me. But, it was that
kind of conversation. I felt that you had to try really quickly to build a
history without spending much time. It’s
only a few scenes but I was just really worried. I didn’t want to be
uncomfortable around her because there were times where we would have to
embrace and kiss. I didn’t want it to be really awkward.
What’s next, acting-wise? iLL Manors is obviously out, The Sweeney is about to come out...?
The
Sweeney is out in September. I don’t know. I’m not thinking about what I’m
going to do next, I need a break. I’m tired now. The next thing I do is going
to take close up to two to three years. I like that, but I just have to be very careful
about what I choose to do. I don’t want to do something where my heart’s not in it.
Plus, everything I do, for instance when I lost my weight, there were songs playing on the radio but I hadn’t made a video for it because I just hadn’t had
the time. So, I’m
taking the whole of August off.
What will you do?
I was
going to go to L.A because I worked in L.A in February, working on the album
and I didn’t get to party. I was going to go there but then I thought ‘You’re
having your first holiday in 3 years, you’ve been working 7 days a week the
whole time, what, I’m going to go to L.A and party?’ What I really need to do is
just relax, read books, loads of books which people have bought me or I bought
myself but, I haven’t had time to read. There’s just certain conversations I
want to have with my friends and loved ones that I haven’t been able to have.
Talk about what has been going on and reflect on the last 3 years. London is
the place to do that. There are loads of people that I have been trying to meet
up with just to have a drink. Friends of mine have gotten married and had kids.
I think I just need to be here and just do nothing. Just
get in touch with my spirituality again. Remember why I am doing all of this.
Are you planning to read 50 Shades of Grey?
Maybe!
There’s a lot of people loving that book. A
girl tweeted about it. 'I wish Plan B was my Mr. 50 Shades of Grey'. That’s
intriguing, I better read it and see what she means by that.
Fisting, by all accounts.
What!?
Last question. Given what you have achieved so far, what else do you hope to achieve in life?
Fisting, by all accounts.
What!?
Last question. Given what you have achieved so far, what else do you hope to achieve in life?
I dunno. I mean obviously there’s loads of artist stuff I wanna do. I have to be very careful on what I
choose to do. In terms of stuff I haven’t achieved – I just think it’s more of
the same. Like, going back to that school, made me feel like there’s a reason
for me to be there. I think aspirations of being a musician, being a successful
artist, making the album, stuff like that, are all selfish things. I wouldn’t
necessarily say that God put me on this Earth so that I could do that. God
didn’t put me on this Earth so that I could be famous and rich. What am I gonna
learn from that? When I went back to that school, I felt like God put me on
this Earth for that.
The reason that I’m famous and rich, is the only way that I’m going to get through to those people, is if I’m someone they know, someone they look up to as an artist. Because there’s loads of teachers in that school that give a fuck, who care as much as I do, but they’re not me. So kids don’t listen to them. I walk in that school and really I had the upper hand, I had the advantage. Instead kids are like, 'Oh my God, it’s Plan B, and he’s here, and he gives a shit and I’m going to work hard for him.' So without the fame, without the achievements, I wouldn’t have had that power. It kind of made me feel like, that’s why me having a hit album and having a film is all important. Because I can then use that profile to be something kids aspire to be and want to be. When I’m meeting them and engaging with them, when I’m doing what I did at the school, that’s why that stuff’s important. Only now I feel without the kids, without me going back to that school, none of that shit's important. It only becomes important if you use it to do something positive like I did in the school. For me, that’s the beginning. To be honest, I fell in love with them kids.

Red Bull: Culture Clash
Have you been to a Red Bull Culture Clash before?
No?
Shame on you.
Whatever you do, don't miss this one in November when Boy Better Know (with Chip and Lethal B), Channel One Soundsystem, Annie Mac (joined by Magnetic Man, P Money and Ms. Dynamite) and Major Lazor (as-yet-to-be-announced special guests) will battle to the death in a culture clash to end all culture clashes.
Will it be the dutty dubstep of Mac and her crew? The grimy grime of BBK or the international booty bass of Diplo and Switch that wil reign supreme? Don't be fooled by Channel One either. They might not boast the big names, but their vinyl sets have taken out many contenders before now.
Who will win? YOU decide (as in you the audience there on the night, not you reading this. Soz).
Hosted by Tim Westwood and Gemma Cairney, find out who will be victorious at Wembley Arena on 7th November. Budding DJ's can also enter their own mixes and the best will be chosen to rep alongside one of the four competing sound systems.
How much will this stellar night cost you?
£15.
Yup. A price like that is enough to give you wings.... (or somehting)

Diplo Ft. Lazerdisk Party Sex: Set It Off
To get us all ready for Carnival this weekend (who's going to the Red Bull stage woooooooo), here's Mr. Diplo's rather x-rated new video.
Featuring basically a lady on a pole, this is maybe not one to watch at work.
B.o.B Ft. Nicki Minaj: Outta My Mind
To say I'm obsessed by this song is no understatement. I kind of can't stop playing it.
Love Nicki on here, love B.o.B on here, love the way the production flows all crazy.
This might be my new gym anthem stiiiiiiiiill.

Street Sculpture: Benedict Radcliffe
There I was, minding my own business, innocently wandering round Shoreditch yesterday and what did my eyes suddenly happen to see?
On top of a non-descript building on an unnoticeable backroad, these two fantastic pieces of sculpture.
Thanks to the magic of Twitter, I was told by @pencreed this is the work of one Benedict Radcliffe (they used to go swimming together as kids appaz).
Obviously a nod towards the Olympics, there's a gymnast in pink and the infamous 'black power' salute from John Carlos at the Mexico Olympics in '68.
(Incidentally, there's a great documentary called Salute, that focuses on the Australian silver medalist, and his quiet commitment to the cause. When he died a couple of years back, Carlos and bronze medalist Tommie Smith were pallbearers at his funerel).
Check more of Benedict's, who has been commissioned by Paul Smith, Red Bull and Comme de Garcon, work here.

Time For: Jessie Ware
"You should listen to my music cos it'll make you want to kiss someone..."
Name: Jessie Ware
Age: 27
From: South London
Live: South London
Occupation: Singer
I’d describe my sound as… Romantic. It’s electronically driven soul and R&B. Because I’ve got a band, and we’ll be playing live, there will definitely be a lot more live elements than the songs I’ve already worked on with other people. Basically, it’s all quite soppy. I’d like it to be as romantic as possible.
You should listen to my music because… It’ll make you want to kiss someone.
My main influences are… Sade, Aaliyah, Chaka Khan and my producer is in love with Prince and Grace Jones, so you’ll hopefully hear those influences on my album. I used to watch a lot of MTV Base, so a lot of R&B, but I’ve grown up with indie music too so I love bands like the National. As a writer, I’m obsessed with Feist and her lyrics. I love her. I think she is one of the best writers ever.
My career highlight to date is… Being asked to do Red Bull Carnival 2011 with Major Lazer. I was trying to get tickets anyway cos I wanted to go, so it was such an honour to be invited and asked to sing.
One thing you should know about me is… I’m scared of the dark. I run from the toilet back to the bedroom in case there’s a ghost behind me.
My claim to fame is… At Carnival last year, Diplo helped me to push past everyone in the toilet queue. It was embarrassing but necessary because there was only one loo by the end and everyone was just p****ing anywhere.
If I could work with anyone in the whole wide world it would be… A songwriter called Jeff Bhasker. He wrote Alicia Keys Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart, which is my favourite song and he did a lot on Kanye’s 808s & Heartbreak album. I love him.
My favorite woman in the whole wide world is… My mum. She’s pushy and Jewish but pushy and Jewish in all the right ways.
My ultimate female anthem is… En Vogue Don’t Let Go. Little Mix did it on X Factor and it reminded me how much I loved it.
My wildest night out was… When I was touring with Jack Peñate and Miike Snow and they took us to a strip club and made me have a lap dance. It was wild and rock and roll, but in all the wrong ways because I was so awkward. This girl was grinding me and I sat there dying.
My style icons include… Lykki Li and Marilyn Monroe.
If I wasn’t doing this… I’d be a drama teacher like Mr. G in Summer Heights High, making the kids do my songs!
2012 is my year because… 2011’s been filled with hard work in preparation for 2012.
That's enough from Jessie. All we're saying is Devotion is basically beautiful vocals backed by brilliant, interesting production.
Check this review or stream here if you don't believe me.
Once you've done that, buy the album here.
Cool.
(BONUS: With the album recorded at the Red Bull stidios, it made sense that Jessie sat down and talking to Red Bull about the album. Listen to it here).

Kendrick Lemar Ft. Jeezy: Westside, Right On Time
With Lady Gaga recently tweeting that she will feature on his new album, Kendrick Lemar's heat seems to be reaching boiling point. Or, maybe, quite hot.
Either way.
Here, he teams up with Young Jeezy on producer Canei Finch's sped-up soul sampled Like his '90s references to Snoop Doggy, British Knights and Perry Ellis. I still love Young Jeezy's voice. Like it's been poured through a vat of the strongest Southern whisky. Delicious.
AlunaGeorge: Your Drums, Your Love
I just LOVE this duo (Londoner's Aluna Francis and George Reid).
They're not big yet but they deserve to be huge. Amazing dreamy, trippy, thowback soul. What's not to love?
Recently signed to Island Records, I'm sure it won't be long before these guys are everywhere. Bring on the album...

Who doesn't absolutely love Jessie Ware?
WE DO!
Not only a fantastic, understated vocal, she's smart enough to have teamed up with peole like Julio Bashmore, who produced this Sade-inflected tune.
Ware is the closest to 80s and 90s soul, in all of its forms, that we've had in a while. We love every single track this girl puts out, and this one if no different.
Order the album from here and you will NOT be disappointed. This is going to be in 2012's top five releases for definite.

Dynamo: Clothing Line
With viewing figures that no-one could have predicted (first series 2.7m, second series, twice that), our favourite magician is fast becoming one of the UK's first and foremost entertainers. The Bradford born Dynamo not only has a book coming soon, but he has also just released a rather ace new clothing line.
Now celebrity endorsed lines can be a bit hit and miss, but we're loving these little numbers. AND they're reasonably priced, ranging from £18 to £30. Bargain!

Time For: Queen Of Hearts
We're big fans of Queen of Hearts over here at G-Shock - and luckily she loves us too!
We caught up with the 'Noir-Pop'stress at Wireless recently for a quick chat, and seeing as she's just dropped a cover of Ben Thompson's Only Love AND has announced a new EP due in September, we figured now would be the perfect time to see what she thinks the 'G' in G-Shock stands for...!
What's new in the world of QOH?
I did the Olympics live Ceremony, the tour, enjoying having my music out there and headed off to America in a couple of months to write some more music.
For those stupid people that havent heard your music...
They are stupid... (laughs)...
They are very stupid. Tell those silly people what they can expect from the QOH?
Noir electro-pop - which you can tell from the outfit I'm wearing. All black! Keep it goth. It's fun, electro pop but with a serious theme. My lyrics can be quite deep. But it's also pulse-y and bassy and fun. I hope it's music that people will enjoy.
What's the toughest part of your body?
I've got amazing arm muscles - I' trying to be Madonna!
What is the toughest part of your job?
Any type of criticism is tough. When you write songs from your heart, or you write about something that's troubling you or things that have happened and someone says 'That song's rubbish', that hurts a bit (laughs). But there's so many pro's and i'm very grateful to be doing what I'm doing. So you take the pro's and the con's and if the worst thing is that some people on youtube don't like you, I'm not going to stay at home and cry about it. At the same time, it is quite tough. You put yourself out there to be judged, so you have to take it and not be too hung up on it.
What's been the most shocking thing you've seen/ done/ said in your whole life?
Probably seeing Rita ORa's nipple at Hackney Weekender. Enjoyable, but shocking!
What does the G in G-Shock stand for?
Gangsta!

No, I say that and yet I also kind of loved it. Despite the thin plot and wooden acting I couldn't help but sort of enjoy watching it.
Is there a need fot a Taken: 2? Probably not. Will I watch it? Probably yes. Will I hate it? Well, yes, but also probs love it a bit too.
Also, how STUPID is his daughter to get snatched twice?
Finally, Liam Neeson: Action Hero. Who'd a thunk!

Ellie Goulding: Halycon Album Preview
Wonder if there will be any Skrillex beats on there? Can't hear anything typically Scrilly on this promo trailer, but who knows.
Halycon is due to be released on 8 October,

Odd Future X Charli XCX: You're The One
A big fan of this single ourselves, seems like The Internet (aka Odd Future's Syd Tha Kyd and Mike G) liked it so much they not only remixed it, put a Mike verse on it, but also got a video directed for it.
This is quite great.
Reincarnated: Snoop Trailer
Vice travelled to Jamaica with Snoop Lion, the man formerly known as Snoop Doggy Dogg as he began his smoky journey far into Rastafari. Disowning the old rapping Snoop to become an all-Jah loving singer, the Cali legend explains his decision on both the name change and musical direction.
My favourite clip of this trailer isn't Snoop getting of his face in JA and telling Diplo to forget about 'the old Snoop' (though those bits are good to), it's the bit where Snoop is at Nate Dog's funeral. You know when you try not to cry and you puff your cheeks out but basically there's nothing you can do to stop it? I actually love Snoop even more for seeing that side of him.
Jay-Z: From Marcy to Barclays
This might only be a promo for Hov's Rocawear line, but I'd like to see this made into a full movie. Detailing Jay's life from Brooklyn's Marcy projects, through to signing to Def Jam, selling out Madison Square Garden and becoming a shareholder in the New York Nets, this 1.37 homage to Hov is a beaut.
Isn't it time there was a Fade To Black: Part 2?
Killing Them Softly: Brad Pitt
The latest film from Mr. Jolie is due upon us very soon.
Co-starring James Gandolfini and Ray Liotta, this wise-guy flick makes me want to drink a whisky on the rocks. Anyone else get that? No? Oh.
Anyway, the film is based on the 1974 book, Cogan's Trade, about an enforcer (Pitt) (ps an enforcer is the guy that checks the lay of the land for a hitman) investigating a heist that goes down during a mob-protected game of poker. Wonder is Gandolfini is playing the Mob guy? Just a guess...!
Killing The Softly, which was 'very well received' (as they say) at Cannes this year, is due out in Ocotober.
Angel Haze: New York
As mentioned the other day, we are rather feeling this new female rhymer, Angel Haze.
Here is the new video, directed by Adrienne Nicole, for her track, New York.
Don't forget you can download the free mixtape, Reservation, here.

Victoria Beckham: Designs A Car
Though she might currently be busy rehearsing with the Spice Girls for the Olympic Closing Ceremony, as well as designing clothes for her DVB line and being a mum to four kids, somehow Victoria Beckham has also found time to design a car.
Yep, a car.
The Range Rover Evoque is its name and it's really quite lovely.
"I like to think outside the box, VB told GQ mag. "Why shouldn't I design a car? Why not go from being a Spice Girl married to a footballer to being someone who's taken seriously in the fashion industry? Let's be innovative."
With the 'innovative' price tag of £79,995, we might not be buying the Evoque just yet, but it's certainly on the wish list.
To buy yours, head here.
Keith Lemon: The Movie
I think we all know what we can expect from Leigh Francis's forthcoming film. Apart from lots of cameos. Smut, innuendo, stupidness, c-list celebs and lots and lots of lolz.
Bring it on...!

Rick Ross Ft. Andre 3000: Sixteen Ain't Enough
Oh gosh. Andre 3k. When will he release a new album please?
Time With: Zedd
Born in Germany, this classically trained musician has remixed everyone from Skrillex to the Black Eyed Peas. The man born Anton recently signed to Interscope and is said to be working on the new Lady Gaga album after his remixes for the Gagz appeared on the Deluxe release of Born This Way. He also has 'cuts' on the Bieb's new album. Not bad for a guy who only started producing three years ago.
We had a very, very quick chat with the man they call Zedd. Big things are going to happen with this guy, mark our words.
How would you describe your sound?
To make it easy, I'll say electro; everywhere between progressive house and electro and everything in between.
What tune do you always reach for to pick up a flagging crowd?
My new single, Spectrum! You should check it out. It's the shit (starts to play the riff on the Casio XW-P1 synth).
What's been the toughest decision you've ever made?
Signing to a major label. I liked the fact that as an independent artist, I could really do what I want to. If I want to release a song tomorrow, I can release a song. If I want to put something out for free, I can. So I was a little scared about losing that freedom by signing to a major label but luckily it's all the same because I have the support of a lot of people helping me reach the goals that I want to achieve.
Who are you working with right now?
Well, before, I wanted to do things, so I told my managers and we would do it. Now, I still make the call and everyone comes on board ( - yeah, us either). I've just done a song with Ellie Goulding, which is for my album. I have a lot of interesting projects and collaborations coming up.

Here's a behind the scenes of the video to Spectrum, which has been remixed by basically everyone in the whole world (A-Trak, Funkagenda, Armin van Buuren, Monsta etc etc).
Deadmau5: There Might Be Coffee
He performed a stormer at Wireless and if that wasn't enough, DeadMau5 has decided to unveil a brand new tune.
Created during a live stream, the Mau5 was apparently worried that it might sound a bit 'Swedish House Mafia' but obviously thought 'Oh well' as he subsequently let it 'drop on the 'Nets'.
Thank you Deadmua5.
Roll Deep Ft. Jammer & Opium: Snakes and Madders
Partly shot at the G-Shock Sessions a couple of weeks ago, Roll Deep and Jammer get extra grimy on this 140BPM monster, produced byMorgan Keyz.
Manga, Brazen, Flow Dan, Scratch, Riko, Breeze, Opium and Jammer go iiiiiiiin on the bars.
adidas Originals Challenge
Nicki Minaj joins Big Sean, K-Pop's 2NE1, Derrick Rose and the amazing Jeremy Scott for a promo that travels from New York to Tokyo, Paris, Chicago and Rio, challenging viewers to be involved in a adidas-inspired crew initiative. The brand is looking for crews around the world to film themselves and upload it, where viewers will vote on what they consider to be the most original content.
“This generation is always looking for a chance to go all in to their own beat; an opportunity to show the world their passions and their talents. This campaign builds on the desire for self-expression, and we are enabling our consumers to share with us and the world their creativity, and what originality means to them,” said Hermann Deininger, CMO of the adidas brand.
The campaign will be activated worldwide through local events challenging consumers to go all in and represent their crews and passions - whether rapping, singing, skating, BMX'ing, art, general fooling about etc., etc.
