Next month, one of Hip Hop's most legendary labels, Def Jam, reaches the 30, marked with a concert at the Barclay Centre in Brooklyn.
To celebrate, the label's original founders, Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons sat down with Noisey to reflect on their history.
In Part 1, the pair talk about why they set the label up in the first place, and how Russell persuaded LL Cool J to make a song called 'Radio'.
Watch out for a further 3 parts to drop in the coming weeks.
